Bryan shares an extraordinary story about how that first mission trip to India impacts him a lot even to this day. It has been a year and a half since Hunter has been to India due to the pandemic but his heart continues to beat for missions as, with the wisdom and insight given to him by our Lord, his next step is now seminary. He has all the trust in God that the knowledge he learned during his time in India will be used to further His goal and His calling in Hunter’s life for missions.During his mission trips to India, Hunter has been to the red light district of India in Mumbai. For him, the people in the red light district were people engulfed in darkness, void of any hope. They sell their bodies to provide for themselves and their families. The only piece of hope they could muster was the hope that someone would take their offer and pay them. There was no love in it, simply a physical and monetary transaction. He could see that none of them wanted the life they have now. They were there because they had no other means of providing for both themselves and their families.But he still believes that there is hope for everyone in the red light district: for the women, for their children and for their families. It is because Jesus didn’t shun nor shame any prostitute. Instead, he welcomed them with open arms and guided them towards God’s love. That is why Hunter urges us to go hang out with these people and show them God’s love. Even if it’s hard, even if you don’t want to see it, even if you don’t want to experience the darkness or even if you hate the fact that people go there, not the women themselves, but the people who are taking advantages of these women, come and see them, talk to them, show them that God cares and He loves them as well.They feel trapped there. They didn’t ask to do this. And they deserve to have hope. They deserve to feel even just a glimmer of light in the darkness surrounding the entire district. Especially now that no one is going to the red light district because of the pandemic. We can show them that God cares and He hasn’t abandoned them. We can tell them that no matter how hard things are right now, no matter what happens, God will be there for them no matter what.That is why we invite you to share the love of Jesus with vulnerable women. The red light district was usually very crowded and the women there would have plenty of business. But when the pandemic began to grow, their business dropped down to absolutely nothing, leaving them unable to provide for themselves and their families. More than 200 women and their families were struggling. The government tried to help by providing ration to the people under the poverty line everywhere but most of the women in the red light district did not have any legal documents which would entitle them to receive government help. Because of this, they are not able to receive anything. The women in the red light district knew about their Hope Center that had a program running right there in the red light district so they began receiving calls from these desperate women and requesting for help. They started to pray for them, asking guidance on how they may be able to distribute food to the red light district. They were able to prepare the packets for the women but then Priya went into surgery and Pastor Manoj had to prioritize his wife. After her surgery, Priya asked him why he hadn't distributed the packets and told him to distribute it since she was well now, encouraging and challenging him.They had a lot of challenges when they started distributing but God guided them. Now, they distribute house to house, handing four packets personally to them and they could see the joy on their faces. These women could not leave the district because they had bills to pay, they had obligations to their children, to their families, but Pastor Manoj believes the day will come when the city is ready and they will receive hundreds of women who are willing to come out of these operations to live a respectful life. They will be able to embrace them and their children in the city of Hope. But until then, what Pastor Manoj sees is these women really need support, they need church, they need everyone to love them, to be around them, to assist them in their difficult times. They continue to minister these women spiritually while, at the same time, helping them practically.This Valentine's day, we invite you to share the love of Jesus with vulnerable women. In early 2020, Pastor Manoj and his family kept themselves busy exercising, walking, continuing with their daily life with God’s presence. Priya was also fasting for 40 days and would skip 1 meal a day as part of a diet program. She began to lose weight very rapidly and they initially thought that was a good thing until, last July, she seemed to be going into a very severe case of diarrhea. They tried the prescription the doctors gave her but nothing worked. They even tried having her drink only bottled water in case the reason why was because of the groundwater they were using but it also didn’t work.She was finally checked and there was severe obstruction that had her urgently admitted and undergo surgical treatment. Even though it had been difficult to find medical treatment, they were finally able to do a CT scan and found the real reason for the problem. Priya had a tumor and she needed urgent surgery. It was later found out that it was cancer. Throughout this entire difficult time, Pastor Manoj thanked God and everyone who prayed with him for Priya. He also thanked everyone who sent money for the surgery and cancer treatment.The doctors said she had stage three colon cancer and they were preparing Pastor Manoj for what was to come. They were talking about having 12 chemos over an entire year but that was when God worked to remind them of His love. From that 12 chemos, it was reduced to 4 chemos in a span of 3 months. By the second week of September, by God’s grace, Priya had completed all the 4 chemotherapy treatment cycles and all the reports became absolutely normal: no cancer cells or any symptoms. The doctors declared that she doesn’t need any more medication and they only have to follow up with the doctor every quarter to keep a check on her for about 2 years.The Lord Almighty performed a miracle and healed Priya. Some of the doctors couldn’t even believe it. God reached down and touched Priya. He took her cancer away and brought complete restoration to the human flesh. For as long as we have faith and believe in Him, God will be there for us. That is why even with what is happening around us, we must not lose faith and continue to praise him. The pandemic might shut our churches down but not the good news. We can share God’s love with our neighbors and those we talk to.
