As of January 2021, by the grace of God, life is almost back to normal. Although there are still some restrictions in the city, churches are actually coming together like before for worship with some precautions taken however, as NCF does not have their own church building, they had been asked to not come together for the months to come. Other than that, they were allowed to travel, conduct marriages and baptism. Except for being unable to come together for SUnday worship service, life is actually back to normal.Back in 2020, things were different. Historically NCF has been a church with members of a thousand young people, young people from Northeast India studying at various colleges and seminaries. Almost all of them wanted to go home during the pandemic and those left could not even meet with each other. They needed a pass to leave their home and Pastor Pongom was privileged to have one. He was able to go and see some of the people who were in need, especially those going to difficult times because of hunger. At one point, only he, one of their church members and their driver was allowed to go around because of the relief work they were doing. Their relief operation grew far greater than Pastor Pongom ever anticipated even after he thought they didn’t have enough funds, being able to help around 20,000 to 25,000 people.God’s work was clearly in this. Even though many people have suffered, many have lost their jobs and had to move back, some have even lost their job, the offerings to the church only increased, not decreased. Offerings are going up for the mission of God. God really shows up during difficult times and our faith increases as we see God’s work. As a church, they have experienced God’s presence together and God’s work in all these difficult times. They manage to make the changes they needed to continue to worship and do God’s work even during this pandemic, things that have been a problem before like not having a good camera or even just a keyboard were solved. The pandemic was like a blessing in disguise. People are becoming open to the presence of God in their life in a way that they were not able to before. It opened the door for Pastor Pongom and the others to minister, to serve and to pray for these people. And these people prayed with them, raised their hands together as they opened their hearts to God. _____Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. 2020 was a year full of challenges as Pastor Pongom attest with the challenges he and his family faced that year. His son, Theodore, was born in 2020 with his lungs not fully developed. The doctors did not see anything wrong but Pastor Pongom and his family still took all the precaution they could. His son’s condition worsened, an infection in his underdeveloped lungs was spreading and no medicine or treatment was working. The hospital the boy was in didn’t even have the right facilities to help him so they had to transfer him to another hospital. It was very hard for Pastor Pongom and his family, especially his wife who wasn’t even allowed to see their baby. All they could do was pray that their son live. He had even offered his life to God, begging that if a life is needed, let it be him and not his son.His son had to be admitted for exactly one month, being born on November 2nd and coming home with them on December 2nd. God allowed this to happen in order to strengthen their faith and to remind all of us and to confirm His presence, His love and to let us know that He is able to provide. God provided all their needs and, even though many people, including the doctors, thought they were going to lose their newborn son, by God’s grace, He helped them go through that difficult time. Now, Theodore is a very healthy and happy child.Pastor Pongom realized that this was a blessing in disguise, a reminder of God’s love for his people. During all this, Pastor Pongom had been worried about how they would be able to pay the medical bills that kept going up every day that their son stayed in the hospital when they had no money at all but God did not let them down. He sent men and women, friends and relatives, every day while Pastor Pongom’s church started praying and fasting, organizing a chain of prayer and the church leaders even raised funds. Before he knew it, the medical bills had been paid without him even having to borrow from anyone. And throughout this all, Pastor Pongom still did God’s work. He prayed for the doctors and nurses in the hospital his son was in. They shared their family problems with him and asked him to pray for their family. He developed a relationship with them, most of them Hindus and Muslims, allowing Christ to be known to these people. God gave Theodore his life for a good purpose, to unite His people. And this challenge showed that his church is a strong church. It doesn’t depend on the pastor and it is filled with people who loved him and his family and took care of him in his time of dire need._____Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor B didn’t know why but he had always had this desire to plant churches. He first had the desire implanted in him while he was visiting one of the villages and he was lying on his bed after praying when, all of a sudden, the number 20 flashed twice in front of his eyes. He didn’t know what it meant so he started praying very seriously, asking God what it was about, what 2020 meant. Around 2012 - 2013 was the time he began to develop the desire to plant churches and, after praying for weeks, he realized that God was telling him to plant 20 churches by 2020. This was later confirmed when pastors prayed over him then said that he had a specific vision and that God is going to use him in a specific way. That's when Pastor B realized that God had placed in his heart the mission to plant 20 churches by the year 2020.It wasn’t easy, especially when he was just starting. He didn’t know a lot of people like foreigners who could help but even in those difficult times, God provided. When he was praying for Bibles to distribute, he later received a parcel with 50 Bibles inside. Exactly what he had asked for even though he didn’t know who had sent it and he hadn’t shared his need for Bibles to many people. Foreign missionaries also helped in making his mission grow. It had been a slow process planting churches with only very few people helping but it started to move at a very great pace after foreign missionaries started to join, especially teams from Global Hope India. They got resources and people to help them, expanding their projects to things like clean water projects, clinics and other projects that benefited the community. Donations aren’t the only thing that helps India, mission trips also help them and they can have a huge impact in people’s lives. A lot of money may have been spent on travel expenses but more money were raised for projects such as clean water projects, volleyball camps, buildings for orphan cares, medical clinics, and many more. And as of 2020, with God’s guidance and blessing, Pastor B was able to plant 25 churches together with all the help he received from both God, the foreign missionaries and the community.2020 was a challenging year for all of us, including for our church planter and pastor. Pastor B didn’t just need to take care of his family but also 13 pastors and their families. But even in these difficult times, God prayed for him and his family. He provided Pastor B with a miraculous way in reckless ways. People from other churches started giving to him which was very unusual. Even restaurants supported him, the 13 pastors and their families. They also received a huge amount from Global Hope India. It might have been a challenge but it was a reminder that, no matter what happens, God will provide. It is a reminder that God’s church is God’s people. It is not the building but the people.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor B was born in a Christian family but he has never been a Christian and never considered himself to have a personal relationship with Jesus. When he was 20 years old, he became very sick and the doctors could not find out why when his parents took him to the hospital. The doctors asked his parents to admit him to the hospital for observation but his mother said that they would take him home and just pray for him. He was taken home and was bedridden for days while his mother kept praying for him. He couldn’t walk or even move by himself. Then one night, he was asking himself what was happening to him? Will he be okay or was he going to die? So many questions were forming in his mind and that was when he really prayed for the first time in his life. He had prayed before but this was the first time he had ever prayed with all his heart. In the darkness of his room, void of any light, he looked up as he prayed and asked that he be healed if Jesus is truly God. He said that if he was healed, he would serve God his entire life. Before he could even finish praying, he saw thousands of lights shining brightly in his room. It was so bright in the room that he could not open his eyes and he heard a voice saying that he was completely healed. He realized it was the voice of Jesus and he truly did feel that he was completely healed. He jumped off his bed and went to college the very next day. He knew it was a big miracle and the very first miracle he had ever experienced. Everyone was astonished and that was the time that Pastor B committed his life to God and accepted Jesus as his personal savior. After his first encounter with God, he continued to live a normal worldly life as he went to college, ran around with his friends and started to study more because he wanted to earn a lot of money. A year after that fateful day, his parents sent him to Malaysia to visit his uncle’s family. In Malaysia, he was taken to a Chinese church for Sunday worship service. At the end of the service, the pastor has an altar call and starts to prophesy that someone there has committed his life to serve God but kind of backsidded now. He continued to say that God was calling him. This was his second chance.Pastor B realized that the call was for him so he went forward and knelt down. He started his life to serve him and there was no turning back.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. 2020 has been a very eventful year for everyone. So many things have changed due to COVID19 and we have all been affected by it, some more than others. During this time last year, Pastor Kevin and Justin were still in India with Justin’s family but, with travel being heavily restricted, these mission trips have also changed. Yet Global Hope India continued on for it had seemed like God had been preparing us because we went virtual in 2019. We were prepared technology-wise and we continued to have communication with our Global Hope India office, partners, friends and family in India.Global Hope India has always been known as a sending organization, focusing more on mission trips. With the international travel coming to a screeching halt, God used our board and our staff to pivot Global Hope India from being a sending organization to being an accessing organization. We may not be able to send anyone to India yet but we have been able to empower our Indian partners all over India and even Nepal, getting to see them work and getting to send resources and send prayers, love and encouragement. We are very grateful for every donor, every gift and every prayer that we have received, no matter how small it is. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us. We love you all and we thank you. We praise you in Jesus’ name and we hope you all have a Happy New Year!______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Prayer has always been a core value of Global Hope India. We believe that we work but, when we pray, God works. The prayer in this episode is connected to the entirety of John 17. In this specific Bible chapter, Jesus prays to God before His betrayal and crucifixion. Pastor Kevin emphasizes how Jesus prayed for three things:He prayed for our protection. He prayed for our sanctification that we would each live for the glory of Lord for his purposes. And Jesus prayed for unity by the grace of God.And it is through these three things that we have been protected this year and we are still being set apart for the glory of our Lord. Even amidst all this chaos during this year, we have a lot to be grateful for but we must not take our protection, our sanctification or glory for granted. So come join Pastor Kevin as he prays to our Lord for all the blessings and protection we have received this year and ask for continuous guidance as we move forward. Together, let us pray for our brothers and sisters in India and the entire world. We wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!We thank you for joining this episode and we’d like to invite you, wherever you may be, to come and join us for our international call to prayer which will be hosted the third Tuesday of the month. It’s online and more information is available here. ______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Henry’s mission trips to India holds a special place in his heart. He had developed deep and long-lasting friendships during his trip and he considers it his best experience out of all his mission trips. It was a grueling trip to get there but it was also one of the most exciting for him, even all the hoops and hurdles they had to go through to get there. God kept putting on him and, when they got there, it was a totally different culture and a different way of life.India had a huge impact in his life because, even though the difference between him and the people of India was huge, it was still the same. They both feelings, they both had heart and hope. They have so very little but yet so much more than himm. He realzied that it didn’t matter how much wealth he can imagine. These people have nothing and have more. Henry fell in love with that idea. So when he came home to the US, his eyes were opened. He saw his neighbors in their own community differently, without loud judgmental thoughts. He gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and jumped in with both feet.He had also gone to other countries for mission trips like Haiti and British Columbia yet he can just relate himself to India. Coming back to India, revisiting families and close friends and doing whatever needed to do over there held no problem with him.He came back to the US and fell on his knees in front of his beautiful home shows God’s power of making things equal for God owns all. It is a gift from God that Henry is a steward and is living his life as a steward instead of as proprietor. That is a work of freedom because now he has God’ guide to sustain the house, repair it and everything else in between. As a steward, he did not just impact people in North Carolina but his impact is also felt 8,000 miles away in India even to this day, to Haiti and up north with his family members.Henry’s experience shows that there is no limit to what God can do in and through us.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Henry is a self-employed home improvement contractor from Raleigh, North Carolina where he is the owner and operator of his business. He and his wife attend Hope Community Church and they serve in the family ministry and the church’s Homefront outreach ministry. He is known as Mr Fix It and has built luxurious million dollar homes and God has used his hands and the skills that have been given to him on the mission field over in India. When there came a time when he and his wife were having serious marital problems and God guided him towards the church without him knowing. He accepted an invitation from a client who became a very good friend of his and, in the first service he came to, the pastor was preaching about his issues and it hit him like a break that this is how God works. The Holy Spirit worked for both him and his wife and they saw one another in the same church, hearing the same service and their hearts were both touched. After the service, their anger lifted and clarity came over him as he realized that he already had what he needed, that God is with us always, 24/7, every day of the year.He built their home without any intention of it being their forever dream home and there was a part of him that wondered if it was a waste, a home with no purpose, but everything changed after his first mission trip in India. While he got a culture shock when he came home, he asked God why He blessed them with so much when other people have so little and that was when it hit him that it’s the people that have so much art to reach out and help those with so little. That was when they opened their home to all those in need. They opened their home to people that were in financial difficulties, letting them stay with them for over a year so they can get back on their feet. Now, they were able to afford their own home. Henry and his wife also opened their home to church gatherings, wedding receptions, birthdays and other different occasions. He believes these people enjoy their home more than they do and they thank God because their home is not a waste. He blessed them with the stewardship of taking care of this home and, in turn, he and his wife blessed other people with the blessing they received from God.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. She has a twin and has been married ever since coming back from India with Global Hope India.Crystal has been to five different countries on mission trips, one of which was India with Global Hope India. On her mission trip to India, her team went to a deaf school and she got to teach there. She was also able to bring toothbrushes and toothpaste, teaching the children about oral hygiene, making use of her experience as a dental assistant. Her team was also able to minister to them, through songs and the gospel. It was a very exciting experience as it was the first time her team went to a deaf ministry school and it was the school’s first time to have a team from the US as well. The biggest adjustment for Crystal during her mission trip was the culture difference between the US and India. She had crisscrossed the US but it wasn’t until she flew to India that she saw a whole new world. While there’s a lot of variety all over the US, she can’t help but remember that she’s still in the US and she’s still in what she considers as normal. When she flew over to India, it was a whole new world, a place that she had very little exposure to. With a time difference of 9 to 10 hours, depending on daylight savings, it really was her flying into the future and, when she flew back to the US, she was flying back to the past. But for Crystal, this mission completely changed her life as it opened her eyes to see God’s love through His people. Before coming to India, her family had been her parents, her siblings and her church. When she got to India, her family grew as she felt God’s love towards her, to His people, to the children she had met and taught. She realized that the bond between her and them was the salvation of God. Each one of her mission trips, not just the one in India, helped change her life. With each mission trip, her family grew and her eyes opened to the wide world around us and how God’s love encompasses us all.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Dylan was born in Plano, Texas and is currently living in Holly Springs, North Carolina. He and his wife, Lisa, have been married for one and a half years. Dylan is a graduate from NC State University. He and Lisa attend Hope Community Church. Dylan was part of the military and is now a police officer with the city of Raleigh as part of the Community Engagement and Services Division. He and his wife are also COVID survivors. It had not been a great experience but it did help bring their marriage together. Dylan can sleep anywhere, even in the middle of the woods in a very uncomfortable sleeping position, and he has recently started baking muffins as a hobby. In 2010, Dylan was still in high school when he joined Global Hope India’s high school mission trip. Dylan found the entire mission trip as great, staying in India for a week and a half, going to different churches and communities. His biggest adjustment had been the large number of people in India which was quite different from the States. He got to visit a boys and girls school and a leper colony. The leper colony was truly an eye-opener for Dylan, an entire village which he spent his time praying and communicating with them. He was also part of the worship for a big concert in the city where all the believers were coming around the city to pray and worship with them in a concert. For Dylan, the whole mission trip invigorated him. It’s so easy for us to just be comfortable with our own little world but, by going to India, it invigorated him to be more involved with his community as a believer. He didn’t just want to have his own thing going on, he wanted to become part of his community and he is looking forward to the day that he could see God’s work overseas once more.To those high schoolers who have never been on a mission trip or have never been to India but may be thinking about going on a mission trip to India, Dylan would like to tell them to just do it. He had plenty of anxiety when he was going there, not knowing to expect, but, when he got there, there were plenty of moments where he truly felt like he had grown mentally and spiritually. It can be scary to think about, especially to young people, just pray about it and trust God. God will be there to guide you through it. It is okay to be anxious and to be scared as long as you remember that you are not alone on a mission trip. You are there together with your group and with God. You are not alone.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions.
