Ken was born and raised in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Ken has been a board member twice, serving his second term at the moment. He is married to Anita and they have been to India with Gloal Hope India. They have three daughters and six grandchildren. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business from UNC and he and his wife worship at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. He and his wife are both Youth Sunday teachers and Ken is also a deacon there. He is also a CPA and managing partner with Stancil CPA and Advisors.Back in 2017, Ken and his wife did a ministry trip in a predominantly Christian village in Northeast India, working with the church in the village and helping out with various ministries. They spoke and taught at the Sunday services, working during the week with the young people, with the ladies’ ministry and with the children and youth. There was even a day when other local pastors came in for some training, focusing mostly on discipleship ministries. Each day there was an experience with different teams, different groups to work with and each day they had a great time. They even had a friend, John, who conducted a medical clinic throughout the week during that time. Their other friend, Eva, helped in the teaching ministry and she was an artist. She painted some murals on the wall and also did other paintings, beautiful artworks that the villagers appreciated and were enthralled with. The highlight of their week was working with the children. His wife has a lot of experience working with children and doing kind of like a Bible school type setting. The children really responded well to the stories and she would teach them crafts they would do together. At night, they had a more informal ministry with the children, teaching them Bible stories. At the end of the week, they had a community night where the children’s parents all came to watch the children perform creative skits for different Bible stories.Their ministry with the children was a huge success for both the children and the parents and they were invited to come back again, for a whole week sometimes. They had been talking about it and wanting to do it again but that was when COVID happened. But even that will not deter them. It might not be this year or the next but they plan to going to India again as soon as they can. Because the experience they had during their trip to India was wonderful and they truly felt that God is telling them to do it again, to go to India and help spread the word of God’s love and Jesus Christ to the children and their parents.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. During Pastor David’s medical mission trip, one man stuck out to his memory. There was this one man who was shaking so badly that he could no longer work. He couldn’t do anything and Pastor David asked the translator to ask what he would like him to pray for this shaking man. The man asked that Pastor David prayed for his shaking so he took the man’s hands and started to pray for him. Before he could finish his prayer, God answered and the man’s hands stopped shaking. Pastor David didn’t know how long it lasted but he will never forget feeling such a blessing to him to see the man receive healing immediately. And through this small miracle, the shaking man realized that God is real. In the midst of the many other beings being worshipped in India, the one who answered his prayer had been Jesus Christ. Many similar things happened during that time, letting them know of God’s presence.Pastor David also became part of the ministry in the red district together with the others and he would see the ladies who work there bring their children every day to them. Pastor Manoj, who has done an episode for this episode together with his wife Priya, had set up the ministry where he’s feeding the children and helping them get ready to go to school. Pastor David also did a medical mission team for these children and checked their weight and condition so the ministry could immediately address any issues that they found. They also gave out medication and checked their blood pressure as part of their medical mission trip. A lot of them have never even been weighed before or their current age. People of different ages and religions came to their medical mission trip. No matter what religion they had, they still asked that their family and children to be prayed for. They believe in prayer and some of them become emotional during the prayer. There are a lot of people who may think that they aren’t a medical doctor or they don’t have any experience with building and architecture, what would they do on a mission trip? You don’t have to do any of that part to help on a mission trip, even on a medical mission. You could do what Pastor David did and take their weight and height. You could even just pray for them. You can just be there and play with the children. You don’t have to be a doctor but you can be a healer. What they need and want is your time. In India or in any other country, it’s the same thing. Go to the children, go to the people. Tell them about Jesus. Talk to them. Pray for them.Do whatever God guides towards you and you’ll be doing the right thing, the blessed thing.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor David is a dear friend of Pastor Kevin and he’s from North Carolina, having been married to his wife Kelly for almost 26 years. They have two daughters and have been blessed with grandchildren. He also has a large extended family including his own family of five boys and two girls. He grew up surrounded with the love of his family with cousins everywhere he looked and lots of food being prepared everyday for their large family.Pastor David has had a lot of interesting experiences, some of which includes being a part of a living Christmas tree with Santa’s house underneath and being part of the filming industry in North Carolina which included being an accidental extra in Forrest Gump. He is also a certified history fan, participating in civil war reenactment and sharing historical facts whenever he preaches or teaches.Pastor David has been in India twice, with his first visit to India being in 2018. His second trip to India was during the end of 2019, welcoming the new year in India. During his mission trip, he was partnered up with a team of engineers that he got to be very good friends with and considers them brothers. They spent the trip helping different towns and people with their engineering issues like designing buildings and other structures including a school and abus park where the buses would stop in their town and spend some money. He even helped a pastor and his wife by creating some cabinets and shelves. He has also participated in a medical mission trip and he helped by measuring the people who went to get a check up using a $1 measuring tape. For every person he measured, he offered a prayer. No matter how bad their personal situation was, they mostly always say “Pray for my children, that they will get education and that they will have good health”. No matter how dire their own situation may be, these kind people were prioritizing their children. Some days, about hundreds of people were lining up so Pastor David realized that God was allowing him to use the world’s cheapest tape measurement to pray with hundreds and hundreds of people in India. This is just the first part of Pastor David’s interesting stories. We invite you to come back next week for part two and we hope that you enjoyed part one!______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Rebecca is one of the founding members of the board for Global Hope India togetehr with her husband. They are currently living in Apex, North Carolina with their two cats. She doesn’t just have a bachelor’s degree but a Master’s and a PhD as well! She and her husband attend Hope Community Church and she is currently employed with the US office of personnel management where she is a performance manager. She’s a very active person with her love for soccer and participating marathons. When she was in high school, she carried the Olympics torch as an escort runner for the torch bearers, carrying the Olympics torch from time to time so it would never drop. While she had been on a trip to six of the seven continents, her first trip to India was in March of 2011 and she had been to India multiple times since then. Each trip to India has been unique for her with different experiences and people to interact with even when she was visiting the same places.Rebecca has always had a passion for missions and ever since her first mission trip when she was 14, she had always felt like God called to her for short term missions. Her first mission trip was to the Dominican Republic and, as she grew older, it became harder to find the time to do any mission trips. She prayed to God to give her and her husband a chance to serve God and God answered during the time they had been planning their vacation trip to Australia. The opportunity popped up for a mission trip to India led by our very own Pastor Kevin and they had gotten to know Pastor Kevin throuh the small group ministry which they had gotten involved with because of their trip to the Ukraine. The dates worked out, almost like the same dates they had planned to go to Australia. They prayed on it and decided to go to India and it was there where they found their calling. She hadn’t intended to make India one of the primary locations or countries to visit multiple times. For her and her husband, India was the place where they felt God called them. It wasn’t because it was necessarily a plan to go to India or they ended up falling in love with India and the people there, but God was truly sending them there for a reason.______Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Priya had been recently diagnosed with cancer and had to get a surgery. She had been suffering for many months and they were very concerned for both Priya’s cancer and the treatment needed. Our community rallied behind them and supported them with prayers and financial aid. The cancer may not be cured yet but, due to the support of the community, Priya’s suffering was eased and her current treatments and necessary fees are now brief now. They are so grateful to the community that supported them in their time of need. Not only that but Priya has seen the pain and side effects of the other patients for their continued treatment but Priya herself is doing well, feeling no pain or side effects. She knows that God is with her, giving her strength and helping her. She is thankful to the Lord and Jesus Christ. She and Pastor Manoj are also grateful from the depths of their heart for the community and how they stood with them, supported them, prayed with them and became a source of hope and light together with God during one of the darkest moments of their lives. And it is because of the strength she got from God and the community that she sent her husband back out onto the mission field for there are families in need and they could help them with meal kits, food kits and so much more. Priya had always encouraged and supported her husband in the ministry and became his rock during the hard times. Even when they had not a single dollar in their name, she heard the voice of God and they decided to trust the Lord and serve Him by faith. He had been with her the entire way when she was diagnosed with cancer. She told him that she was okay now, the surgery was done, and he needed to get back out there for there were people who needed help. Even after the pain and tribulation, the mission stayed in her heart. With her support and pushing, he was able to prepare a lot and have completed the distribution for the first area, distributing even during heavy rain. Even during such terrible weather, he could see the happy faces of the people who received a packet, receiving it tightly. They were so grateful and shining with hope. But Pastor Manoj is not stopping there. They have been talking about it and praying for guidance for the last three to four weeks. They want to do something that can reach the patients, particularly the children who are cancer patients and outstation patients. They want to be able to reach out and feed them, maybe create a temporary program where they can come and stay while they’re pursuing treatments. They are still thinking about how to proceed but they know that God’s Will will be their guiding force behind any programs or plans they make.Even in the midst of COVID, Pastor Manoj and Priya truly exemplified what it meant to have faith in the Lord. They found strength to face the situation and never lost hope. They trusted the Lord and God sent the community to them to pray and support them. For even in the darkest of nights, in the most terrible of storms, as long as we have faith and trust in our Lord, He shall provide.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor Kevin went on his first trip to India in the year 1998 and it was a momentous time for him as it had been his first trip out of the USA, having not owned a passport before then. Before his trip to India, he did a mission trip to Louisiana. The chance to go to India came when he had been in church one Sunday morning and he sensed God was whispering to his spirit to join the upcoming pastors conference in India as a prayer partner that had just been announced in his church. He encountered a lot of problems then. He had never had a chance to travel out of the country, he had no resources or money, his children were still so young and he was unemployed at the moment. That was when God showed him that where He guides, He provides. Pastor Kevin went and got a passport and a visa. Before he knew it, some of his friends from church had handed him an airplane ticket, saying that God would have us pay for his ticket so that he could go so they did. He ended going to India on a life-changing trip.God radically changed his life with this trip. He might not have been part of those who preached during this time but he surrendered himself to that desire to preach. He made some friends and, along the way, he was able to speak truth into people’s lives and pray with them, building relationships between them and God as well as with him as well. One of the relationships he had been able to build was the elder of their church that he went with, Tom, the first Indian Partner that became one of the foundations of Global Hope India. Pastor Kevin spent most of their time out with him and his ministry, his orphanage and his group of pastors just really ministering out there. It was during that time that Pastor Kevin met Raja. As of today, Pastor Kevin and Raja have been friends for over 20 years and partners in ministry. They were like families living across the world, writing letters to one another, sending Christmas cards and, when the internet became a common thing, they emailed each other regularly, sending greetings and happy birthdays for their children.Pastor Kevin wanted to share his experience with his children, show them how the children in India lived so they could know the true peace and joy found only in Christ. He prayed to God that his three children be able to see His work in India and God answered. From that, his mission grew to show everyone God’s love and guidance in India, to create Global Hope India the way it is now. It was because of God’s love and the support of everyone around him that we are now here with you, spreading God’s love and guidance, spreading our mission and we will continue to do so for this is our mission. This is where God has guided Pastor Kevin and everyone here in Global Hope India.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. This year reminded us that God is in control and whatever plans we may have had for this year were not necessarily what God had in mind for us. But that does not mean that we don’t know our mission. Global Hope India has always had the mission to make Christ known among people that have limited access to learn and know about Jesus. We’ve been focused on the country of India but, while our mission has stayed the same, part of the mission has definitely changed completely so that we can complete this mission. One of the high values that we have when discipling people who wish to go on a mission trip is flexibility. This is even written into our trip preparation manual. When you apply to go on a trip with Global Hope India, you’ll go through a six to eight month discipleship process where you prepare not only your luggage but your heart as well. Our plans for 2020 may have changed and we may not be in control but God is very much in control. Our plan for 2020 was to be full of teams going on missionary trips - lots of teams with lots of new faces. Over 15 teams were planned and we were super excited to meet new people but these trips had to be canceled. We might not be able to go physically but every single day we are hearing of how God is at work. India shut down because of COVID19, closing everything down quickly without notice while most of the workers in India were migrant workers. These people were left to walk on the hottest month of May with public transportation shut down. It was an eye opening experience and a heartbreaking moment, seeing so much suffering. But listening to the missionaries and pastors we have there working on a mission field, God's really using the church to empower the people during these trying times.Even through it all, there is still hope. It is a testimony to God’s will and love that the church is still able to step up and continue to stay strong. Facilitating short term mission trips is a very high priority to us but God made it clear years ago that we must have a strategy: PRAY, GIVE, GO. We might not be able to GO but the two other very valuable things that we have been called to do we can still do and we would like to share them with you on this episode. In other news, I have also started to write a book last January and, even before the word COVID had entered our mind, God has pressed me that I needed to spend the first quarter of 2020 writing. With the help of such awesome people, the book Audacious Generosity was completed in May and will be released on Amazon on November 17. Go to kevinwhite.us and get the links there for the book, including a free pre-release version you can download.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor K's son, Zach, has been in India five times. His first trip was when he was 11 years old in 2001 and he has watched many places in India thrive and change in the past 15 years. He still remembers his first trip in India using AOL, going to this thing called the Internet cafe that he had to pay to get online and being in the only hotel with an A/C. The one thing that shocked him most during that time was how they didn’t have most of the conveniences we had, not even a refrigerator. He remembers playing crickets with the kids and having fun with them. He couldn’t speak their language but that didn’t stop them from relating interculturally, teaching words and everything else. Those days were filled with laughter and all the kids loved it the whole time. Zach knows they may not have a lot compared to us but he was surprised at how generous they were even when each meal was just the basic to survive and the room the entire family slept in was just the size of most people’s closets. Still, they made Zach feel like he was welcomed and treated him with kindness and a smile.Zach was also fortunate to see a leper colony grow with the help and support of the missionary team. When he first visited the colony, this group of people in India was given a piece of land by their government and was cast aside because of their leprosy. The government sent them to live in a few concrete buildings, complete with bathrooms, but without any roof. So they had to make roofs out of bags and trash and other things they could get their hands on. They were surviving but they were not surviving well and their needs were not even being really met. We gave them bags of rice and prayed over them but that was all we could offer them then. Zach had even asked if he could give some of the kids the shirt off his back.God had bigger plans in store for this leper colony and Zach was there to witness it. Every time he was around the area, they would ask for him because they remembered him from his first visit. He has led worship services and prayovers. They talk to him and he prays with them. During these trying times, God had done some amazing things that Zach was blessed to witness - mango trees being planted, roofs being placed on those buildings, and a church being built.Zach could feel God’s love for a population that was condemned unlovable in India. For even Jesus has been an outcast in the Bible and yet He did not let that hinder Him nor did He turn anyone away. Our Lord has guided Zach to look past what fear he may have held during those first few moments, letting an eleven year-old boy see His creation for what they are. God’s love is boundless and endless. No matter how different it may be, God’s love can be seen as long as your eyes remain open.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Kali has an early education degree and is in college pursuing higher education. She’s also a full time nanny and attends Hope Community Church in Morrisville, NC. It has always been Pastor Kevin's dream to take all three of his children to India and Kourtney (Kali's older sister) went to India when she was 11. Growing up, Kali saw Kevin going to India so much that, while she didn’t hate the idea of going there, India reminded her how Kevin was going away from their family. Because of this, she had no desire to go. When she finally went to India, it was because her sister, Kourtney, had moved there. When she left, she was heartbroken a bit but she remembered getting off the plane saying she will never go back to India. She had fun and loved being in India but the traveling and everything else had her disinterested in returning. But she did return to India later on when she became a leader with Hope Community Church’s Student Ministries. She has been leading a group of girls since they were in 6th grade (and they actually just graduated this past spring). Some of these girls have also been interviewed here as well (Emma, Marta, and Hayden to name a few). When she returned to India, together with these girls, it was eye opening and the kids remembered her. They were still the happiest kids that she has ever seen in her life: they had so much joy and their faith was so strong. They were being taught about Jesus and relied so much on prayer throughout their day. These kids were six to seven years old and it felt like they truly understood who Jesus was and what He represents. It was very eye opening because even without the possessions that we take for granted, they were still more fortunate than these kids yet here they are, happy and faithful.Kali advises that you should take your kids on a mission trip before they turn 18 because it will change them. It was so cool to watch high schoolers go because sometimes high schoolers can be stuck in their own world and not understand everything else. They are still at that age where they have questions and they can still be molded, can still be guided. When they visit India, it will open their eyes and they will come home as different people for the better.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Julia is a single college student pursuing a bachelor in Science and Nursing in the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She is currently living in Florida with her sister and is involved in Olathe Church where she is grateful to be part of a small group. She hopes to help serve in the children’s ministry when they open back up this fall.At the moment, she has been scribing for a psychiatrist in downtown Orlando at a clinic that serves the uninsured, taking focus on the mental health aspect that has been brought by COVID-19 and realizing how much we were built for community and how much we especially were built to fully trust the Lord.Julia has never been to India before nor has she done any missionary trips and had been planning to go there this summer with Emma. However, she is still a missionary for God has brought her into nursing school to be a missionary there, for both her peers and patients. He has guided her eyes to see the needs of those around her. Even when her trip to India has been canceled, this only brought clarity to her on what God was doing to the church globally. Because he is bringing the missionaries there who were supposed to go to India here, back to their hometowns, which are often the hardest place but most accessible place for missionaries like Jesus Christ. She is hoping and praying that our Lord could be redefining what a mission trip is supposed to be.Wherever we are, whether it be in the field, at school or with our own family, we are missionaries that spread the Gospel of our Lord. We might not be able to reach those faraway for now but we can still nurture and grow our community here. Our hearts and prayers are with Julia and the rest of our healthcare workers and those serving on the front lines.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions.
