Marta has been to India twice. She is currently a senior in high school in North Carolina. We talk with Marta about being a senior in the current COVID-19 epidemic with graduation and her senior year.  She was planning on going on a third trip this year but the travel ban has canceled this summer's trip.Marta is saddened that she won't be able to go visit her friend in India this summer but remains optimistic that God will work things out for the good of those who love him. When asked what something that most people know about her she said her favorite animal is a cow. In fact when on a mission trip in India someone offered her a cow! But she didn't think it would get through Customs...Marta shared her story about how she came to be in a relationship with Jesus and how that led to her wanting to be a small group leader and go on mission trips. Being a gymnastic teacher, she said one of her favorite moments from her trip is when they were organizing a children's event where kids were dancing. She described the moment of joy when all their hands went up and they were dancing with that "little kid shrills!"Marta described her various mission trips, what they did, the ministry, the memories, and the stories she brought back with her. If you are considering going on a mission's trip as a teenager you need to listen to Marta's story. She believes that missions have changed her life as God has revealed how we can love each other's with unconditional love the way that God has loved us. "If I can love someone that a whole world away than I can love someone in my everyday life." - Marta____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Matthew is from Porterville, New York which is a small town in western New York, just south of Buffalo. He attended Alfred State College and works at Great Lakes Cheese as an Engineering technician where he integrates robotics into the manufacturing equipment. Although he did not have a church family, his faith started with reading the Bible and finding comfort in it. He found that as he read on and on, he began praying and his life just started to change. His biggest prayer when he started praying was for him to have a wife and a family. He felt that God answered that he was not ready to become a spiritual leader of a family, so he dove into Jesus instead and focused on nurturing his faith. But a couple of years later, he met his wife Natalie. It was like God said, “seek me first, Matthew, and then all these other things will be added”. And he fulfilled that promise and all these other things were added. It was Natalie’s stepfather who convinced Matthew to go to India on his first mission trip. Matthew saw this as God’s step of obedience for him to go so he went to India, two months after they got married. Upon arriving in India, he felt a sense of purpose. He felt like God was telling him, “This is where you shed all the fear of trying new things, all the fear of the giants and the obstacles in front of you, and you focus on me.” He remembered thinking that he did not even know why he was there but there was nowhere else he’d rather be. It was as if all of a sudden the light bulb began to go off as to God's sovereignty. And he said, here's your purpose. After going on his mission trip to India, he had the urge to tell everyone about ministries overseas and about the struggles overseas. And he wanted everyone to hear that it's a love like fire. While fire needs oxygen, ignition source and fuel to spread, God is all of that and the people are the fuel. This was what pushed him to put up a website called lovelikefireindia.com as a means to get out to the world what God has done and what God is doing. For Matthew, this was God’s idea and ministry. Matthew also shared the story of how he inherited an orphanage in India. One of the things that became crucial for him was to ensure that all 20 children in that orphanage were given beds to sleep on. He felt like this was an act of obedience and he was going to reach out. Through faith and God’s sovereignty, they were able to raise funds and achieve this goal. Matthew shares how God has shown him this as his purpose. Just like in Genesis 12:2, “Where God speaks to Abraham and he says, I will bless you and I will make you a blessing”, Matthew has been blessed and has also become a blessing to others. ____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Justin was born in Manipur and grew up in Northeast India. When he was just four years old, his dad passed away and his mother had no choice but to move him and his siblings to a rural area. Without any stable source of income, his mother was able to raise and send Justin and his 4 siblings to school. His mother was able to fulfill their needs through prayer and just keeping almighty God on the throne of being the provider for their family. He talks about his spiritual development and how he came to faith in Christ and was baptized. He was invited by a classmate to become an usher for the UPC church. It was a big church and he had to help with decorating and cleaning the church. He shares that although the work was tiring, he felt full of joy and happiness while working in the church. In 2014, Justin’s mother passed away due to breast cancer. This was a dark period for Justin because he had prayed to the same God that his mom had prayed to his whole life and he saw miracles growing up. But this time he did not get a miracle. In January 2015, Justin was introduced to Kevin. He became the International Travel Manager of Global Hope India and this paved the way for his renewed faith in Christ. As a support person for GHI, he shared the mission trip alongside the team of Americans that have come over from the US. Their team went on this mission wanting to make an impact for God. And yet it was Justin who was impacted because, in one of the darkest hours of his life, God sent a refreshing blow of grace, beauty, love, and compassion through an American team and the leper colony in India. If Justin had to sum up how God has used missions to change his life, that word would be “prayer”. Prayer is not just for the answers that we're going to see before we pass, but we are praying to a God that is eternal, the Alpha and the Omega. And if we do go to heaven before the earth is over, we need to be praying for eternity. Because what matters is the work of God. It's not what we can do. God is so good and he allows us to do a lot of great things in spite of our sin and our mistakes. He is always faithful.  ____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pastor Jay is the middle school pastor at Hope Community Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a part of their central services team, which leads the middle school staff for all of Hope's campuses. Jay was involved in one of the first mission teams sent to India through Global Hope India. He is also a US Army war veteran and Jay talked about how being in a war zone led to him carrying a weight of emotional tension. A friend of his invited him to come to North Carolina so he can restart his life. And that move was a pivotal moment for him. Pastor Jay talked about how his personal experiences have made him realize that God is a father to the fatherless. And how he continues to do this with the orphanages in India and even to people with leprosy who have been cast outside of their communities. He remembered how one trip became a catalyst to pave a way for the church to grow in that colony and for God to bless them immensely. He also shared a story on how helping a woman by pouring oil on her open wound allowed him to see her faithfulness. And how God used that moment to teach Pastor Jay about faithfulness. He also shared how he answered God's call for full-time ministry. He saw how multiple lives were radically changed as a result of that trip and it set a foundation for him to go full time with Global Hope India. Pastor Jay talked about how missions have taught him about hospitality and to just love your neighbor and your brother and their members. He knew without a doubt that God was calling him to full-time vocational ministry and when paired with those instances of faithfulness that he experienced in India, he believed that if you know what God's called you to, then your response is either faithfulness and obedience or it's disobedience. Pastor Jay shares how missions have changed his life in terms of seeing that what God does is exponential. He saw this in the influence that God had in the different individuals that he interacted with and on the improvement of the children’s way of living in the orphanage. His vocation as a student pastor along with his experiences when he went on mission trips to India has allowed him to stay faithful. ____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pauline is retired from medical practice and also medical equipment support. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, and attends The Summit Church with pastor J.D. Greear. She has been on two mission trips with Global Hope India. She grew up in a Christian family and didn't really have her own faith until some years later. She believes that Jesus is the reason that she can move, breathe, and have life. The sacrifice that Jesus has made and the grace that has been poured on her has made her want to reach out and give that to others as well. She saw missions as an opportunity to use her skills as a nurse. It was an avenue that she saw where she could tangibly give back and become involved in people's lives. She saw that as a gift from God and it seemed like a glaring opportunity to just say yes. Pauline talked about her experience the first time she went on a mission trip to India. She remembered feeling very overwhelmed when God was calling her to focus on India. She saw so much need, so much opportunity, and they can only do so much. But God was very good and showed them that experience as a catalyst for life change and transformation. Pauline shared her favorite story from a mission trip where they established a connection with the families that came to the orphanage. This relationship led to the families accepting Christ and being baptized. Aside from helping people with their illness, it was the long-term impact they had in these families' lives that resonated with her most. This is a reflection of how one plants seeds and harvests seeds for the gospel. One of the takeaways that she had from a mission trip was the power of prayer. Pauline shared why she is now a prayer warrior for missions. For she has seen how giving some pills and other medications can help with physical healing, but there is still that greater need for more than just physical healing. And this only comes about when they realize their need for Christ, and that can only be exposed through prayer. The reason that we're so passionate about prayer, the reason that they lay hands on everyone and pray with them before the clinic is because salvation belongs to the Lord.Pauline talked about how working with Global Hope India has made her realize that she cannot outgive God. She continues to be amazed at what God can do with what little she gives. There is nothing that returns void when the gospel is involved. She hopes that when she gets to heaven, she can look around and see that people that are there as a result of some of the work that she has done or enabled. And she is just grateful that God has put her in this place and in this season.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Pricilla works as an Emergency Room nurse at the University Medical Center of El Paso’s Level 1 Trauma Center. She grew up in Sacramento, California and has very strong ties to her Mexican heritage. She is a solo traveler, an adventurer, and an adrenaline junkie, and she loves the Dallas Cowboys. As a child, she remembered not knowing God at all and not having any kind of relationship with Him. She went through tumultuous and traumatizing experiences not just as a child but as an adult as well. She was recently exposed to extreme hatred when the El Paso mass shooting occurred on August 3rd 2019, where a gunman shot and killed 22 people and injured 24 others at a Walmart store in El Paso. Pricilla talked about how her church’s pastor, Pastor Terry Gray of the Cavalry Chapel Sun City, went to the ER and prayed for the victims. That was God’s way of shining His light on a dark day in El Paso. That experience made her realize that God was the alpha and the omega. Everything was in God’s hands and He was always watching over His children. Pricilla remembered how God was really calling her to become a nurse. She talked about a vision that she had while she was in her car and she suddenly saw herself being surrounded by many children. She then promised God that she gets accepted and finish her nursing program, she will go on medical missions. She firmly believed that if He puts something in your heart so strong, you can run away from it or you can run towards it with all of your heart. And when you trust God, you can really do anything. Going on missions with Global Hope India gave Pricilla the sense of that vision being fulfilled. She saw children in need of a safe place and hope, and it was an honor to pray with them. She also interacted with women from red-light districts and prayed with them. She firmly believes that when God plants things in your life, He gives you a sense of direction. You can open doors for others to make them see what they would not have seen if you did not go on missions. Missions change your future. Trees are sprouting and it’s like a little garden is growing in her heart. And she can’t wait to see what grows because all these different seeds are planted by the different things that she has seen in the missions. Meet Pricilla: She lives in El Paso, TX. She is an ER Nurse and was there in El Paso On August 3, 2019 when mass shooting occurred at a Walmart store in El Paso. A gunman shot and killed 22 people and injured 24 others. The FBI determined the shooting to be an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime. A few month’s later Pricilla is on a mission trip with Global Hope India. She has Mexican heritage. She was born in California. She is a nurse at University Medical Center of El Paso - a level 1 trauma center. As a follower of Christ she worships at Calvary Chapel in Sun City. She is a solo traveler adventurer adrenaline junkie. She loves the Dallas Cowboys.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. I am so excited for today’s episode. Before we welcome today’s guests to the show, let me share some additional context why I was incredibly honored when they agreed to be on the show. That’s right we aren’t going to have 1 guest or 2 or 3. Today we are welcoming 7 guests to today’s show!As you know, the question, “will you go with me to India” has always been foundational for Global Hope India. We believe GOING is one of the most radical steps of obedience we will ever take to the great commission. The call to go is not an American calling but is global. Every healthy New Testament Church is faithfully sending out people to advance the gospel. This is true for The Church in India too! Over the last 10 years we’ve seen God transform thousands of Americans AND Indian Nationals through missions. In this episode, we hear from seven (7) Indian nationals from Northeast India who recently joined one of Global Hope India’s teams from America on a short-term mission to Mumbai, India. These Americans and Indian nationals formed one (1) team to serve the church in Mumbai. This further stresses the point that the call to go is a global calling and not just an American calling. We first talked to Abi, Apem, Apom, Iyam, Nao, and Rinthar who were in charge of various medical tasks such as temperature and blood pressure checks, pharmacy management, and eyeglasses consultation. They shared their individual stories on what they loved most about the trip and how even a short-term mission had transformed their lives. Our friends from Manipur had a wonderful time playing with the children and teaching them action songs. But what resonated most to everyone was the eye-opening encounter they had with the women from the red light district and their children. They talked about how when mothers from the area were asked how the team could pray for them, they answered: “Please pray for my children”. To pray for God to spring into action, rescue the children, and take them away from that environment. We then talked to Justin from Global Hope India, whose leadership made the mission trip a success. He shared the importance of having Global Hope India partners who provide scholarships for Indian nationals and how this selfless act provides the youth with a great opportunity to serve the people of India. Justin talked about how God continues to use missions to change his life. He believed that God has plans for everyone and everything. He had seen how powerful prayers are and how God works when we pray.  We closed the episode with a prayer for the women of the red light district and their children. We prayed for God to reveal Himself to those women and that area. We thanked God for the team from the US and the team from Mumbai that came together to provide the Gospel in action to all the people that they have been able to share and demonstrate the love of God with. We prayed for God to continue to provide a way for Americans, foreigners, and Indian nationals to come together in missions for the sake of the Gospel. ____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Andrew Jarman grew up in a small rural town in eastern North Carolina. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering. He currently works in North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality where he regulates drinking water systems in the state and helps make sure that the water quality being sold to people falls in the federal and state requirements. As a child, his parents regularly took him to a small Baptist church where he got used to hearing about God and Jesus Christ. It was not until he was 9 years old that he got a better understanding of his faith and understood God’s message for the first time. This happened while he was at church listening to the pastor say, “no one’s good, no one can approach God, no one’s perfect”. He realized that he had to be honest with himself that he had fallen short. But it is Jesus who made the way for us. He is the way and we can’t be good enough to get into Heaven. And Jesus is the only way. This was how he came to know Christ at a young age. Andrew admitted that he had a lot of growing to do with his relationship with God. And being on mission trips to India was a big part of that. He was a believer but there were things that he did not have control over. God opened Andrew’s eyes during his 4 years in college. He had career and relationship plans and had his whole life planned out. But he did not realize that God had plans for him too which were far better than Andrew’s plans. His first mission trip to India was his first trip out of the country.  He knew about India and its culture but never really thought about taking a trip there. When he was asked by his friend, Paul, if he would be willing to go to India, he felt God saying “yes”. He felt like that opportunity was one of God’s plans for him. So he just said yes and it was the scariest “yes” that he had ever given. It was a big leap of faith. That first mission trip stuck with him and as soon as he left India he knew that he was going back. God got bigger and the urgency to go just increased. His call got clearer. The Holy Spirit prompted him with an urgency to return. And he went on to go on more trips where he also acted as a trip leader and saw God in the call to invite others to join. Being on missions gave Andrew a great opportunity to pray with people and share his testimony. He saw that God can use him just because he can give his heart and just go love the people in India with the heart that God has given him to love them with. Andrew talked about how when he was in India, he came to realize the value of the ministry of encouragement. Of just holding another brother’s or sister’s hand in faith and praying for strength over them. That they will be bold and their needs will be met. God is great and can meet every need. So the call then is just to pray. If you can’t meet it yourself, you can lean on the Holy Spirit to meet any need. This is one of the ways where he sees that God is always working to save his people in India through His church. The missions have changed not just Andrew and the people he had taken to India, but the people in India as well. God had called him to go and take a step of faith; to trust Him to provide what he promises. With the missions, he saw how God provided even more than he asked or imagined. As a result, God’s faithfulness has increased Andrew’s faith. If he hears the call from God to do it, he can trust Him to provide.Meet Andrew! He lives in Raleigh, NC. He is originally from Snow Hill, NC. Andrew was a saxophone player in the Marching Band at NCSU. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University (Go Pack!) in Raleigh, NC. He works for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NC DEQ). He is an Engineer III who leads their Capacity Development Program. Generally what this means is that he help regulate all the public drinking water systems in NC, ensuring it is safe for people to use and consume. Andrew has attended The Summit Church for 11 years, currently at the Apex Campus. He is a small group leader and serves in the kids ministry where he gets to share about Jesus with preschoolers on Sundays. He has been to India four times, but has never been to New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles. Andrew has ran a mile in under 6 minutes! Listen in and see how God used missions to change Andrew’s life!____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Jim and Mary have been married for 52 years. Jim is a retired meat manager from Winn-Dixie, while Mary is a retired teacher from Rutherfordton Elementary school. Jim is now a beekeeper and a great gardener, and Mary is an excellent cook. They may debate that they have slowed down a little bit. But I’ve got videos showing Mary dancing through the village with little children in India. They have been to India several times where they did evangelistic services and worked with children in orphanages. Every trip has been life-changing for Jim and Mary. One challenge they experienced was the language barrier. How can they talk to them when they can’t speak their language? Mary realized that the problem was she was trying to do everything herself. And she realized that she just needed God to tell her what to do and to show her what to do. And He did. And as she did these things, she started to feel at peace. She felt that God was there by her side giving her the words to say. On one of their trips, they went to a red light district which was an eye-opening experience for them. It showed them what God expects from us. He says to go to the end of the world and preach the gospel, and that’s exactly what they did. They saw so much need there, and so much to be done but so little time to do them. Jim was in one of the banquets one night where Saji John got up and said, “God knows every name of every person in India. Very few of those people in India know Jesus.” And that stuck with Jim because it was so true. Whenever Jim and Mary worked with the children in orphanages, they saw the love between them and the children, and even the adults and girls. They believe that what the children and adults need is another body and not just money. They need another body there to show them that you care about them and to let them know that God cares about them. That way, you’re making a connection with them. When asked about what they can say to our brothers and sisters around the world on how God can use missions to change their lives, Jim advised them to talk to God and to let God control them. If He’s leading them to go, don’t put it off and just go. For those that want to go but can’t go, they can pray. And they can help other people to go through Global Hope India. Mary also said that a mission trip is one of the greatest opportunities that they will have in their lifetime. Pray to God, and if it’s not meant for them to go, they can pray and they can give. But if there’s any way for them to go on a mission trip to India, she knows that they will be blessed. ____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions. Lyn is a recently retired career advisor from Fayetteville Tech Community College and an ordained chaplain. She has 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren and is a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan. She is currently a mission director of Cliffdale Christian Center in Fayetteville NC with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from South Carolina University and a master’s degree in Adult Education from George Mason. Lyn is a die hard Atlanta Falcons fan!For many years now, Lyn has been going on mission trips around the world, from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Ghana, and India. India holds a special place in her heart as this country managed to tug on her heartstrings and she has met so many amazing people there. Her last trip was a 10-day trip where she got to work with young girls on campus. Four of her team members were even members of her church. She advocates, “Everyone can’t go but everyone can pray, some people can send and there are some people that can’t go”, and she advocates this to her church as well as emulate it in real life. She also believes that one person can really change the world. When God puts you in a certain place, you have the ability to change that place and the people in it. This change is what will change the world. It might not be noticeable, not many people may know about it but God knows, the people whose lives have been influenced and changed would know. God is awesome as He guides us to places where we can use our skills and experience to help the people around us, just like how Lyn was able to use her skills and experience as an educator to help the people prepare for interviews and such during her mission.Lyn believes that missions is her true calling and she loves it. She is even already starting to prepare for her 2020 trip. She believes that mission trips are great and designed to give a taste of what it would be like so people would know if it is their calling. That is why she wants to do more of it. Because to be really connected to the people and to be able to do the best we can, Lyn believes that staying longer is necessary as that would help become part of both the community and the culture.  Lyn’s story shows us how missions is everyone’s duty. We are all here to teach about God and guide our fellow brothers and sisters to God’s love. All of us have the heart of a servant just like Jesus Christ. We must not be disheartened if our efforts do not bear fruit immediately. What is important is that we have sown the seeds that will later bear fruit for God to pick.____________Global Hope India: For over 20 years we have been watching God radically transform thousands of Americans & Indian Nationals through missions.
